Nollywood Records Another Death, As Veteran Actor David Ihezie Dies

 

Nollywood has recorded yet, another death for 2012. Veteran Nollywood Actor David Ihezie dying in his Enugu residence after a protracted illness. 

Chairman, Enugu State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ofiafulugu Mbaka, confirmed the death of the prolific actor to Vanguard yesterday.

 

According to Mbaka, “Ihezie’s death is another big loss to the entertainment sector and Nigeria as a whole. I was made to understand that he had been sick before he finally passed on.

Obviously, nobody would be happy when somebody dies. It’s shocking and there is nothing anyone can do.” Ihezie’s corpse has since been deposited at Ifem Medical centre, Enugu.

Just a few hours ago, Richard Mofe-Damijo a.k.a RMD escaped death in a ghastly motor accident around the Warri-Asaba road.



It was confirmed that the Multi-Award winning Actor and current Commissioner for Culture & Tourism came out of the accident unhurt. The Car which is a Toyota Prado was driving in, coming from a village in Oronigbe not far from Abraka apparently somersaulted, but the full details of the accident is still vague.

President Goodluck Jonathan Reduces Fuel Price To N97

 

President Goodluck Jonathan in an early morning broadcast today, announced the reduction of petrol pump price from N141 per litre to N97.
 

In a swift reaction to what looked like a disapproval to the presidents broadcast, Labour asked Nigerians to stay at home, as against rallies and street protests that had characterised the reaction to January 1, removal of the subsidy on petrol. Labour  in a statement called on its members to embark on a sit at home strike , due to security concerns.

The president however asked Nigerians to go back to work and go about their normal duties, as government has made arrangements for the protection of lives and property throughout the federation. Below is the transcript of his speech:
